Based on the <a href="http://pewsocialtrends.org/assets/pdf/Morality.pdf">2006 Pew Research Center survey, <em>A Barometer of Modern Morals,</em></a> 88% of the public said it was morally wrong to have an affair while married.</p>
<p>The survey also revealed that most people felt cheating on your spouse was worse (on the moral compass) than cheating on your income taxes.</p>
<p>Coming in the lowest on the moral compass was gambling and overeating.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p></p><p>Do we perceive adultery different from our European counterparts? <a href="http://www.bestlifeonline.com/cms/publish/sex-relationships/Why_French_Men_Don_t_Get_Caught.shtml">I just read an interesting article</a> in Best Life magazine about how in the U.S. if a spouse commits adultery the marriage is ruined, but in Europe it&rsquo;s just considered a bump in the relationship.  Should we automatically write off our spouse if they commit adultery? Is the marriage doomed?</p>
<p>According to this article, over half the marriages in this country end in divorce and 17 percent of them are blamed on infidelity. Our infidelity rate is about the same as the French, yet our divorce rate is significantly higher.</p>

<p>Some have advocated to abolish this bill like divorce attorney <a href="http://www.rosen.com">Lee Rosen</a> who says &#8216;these torts are archaic methods for eliminating infidelity and do not protect marital relationships&#8217;.</p>

A divorce was granted to a woman in Vancouver, Canada today after a judge decided that her husband&#8217;s affair with another man counted as adultery, which served as grounds for divorce. <p>The judge had to modify the traditional definition of adultery known in the courts as:&nbsp; voluntary sex between a spouse and someone of the opposite sex, to whom the person is not married. </span></span></p>
