Here are a few tips from the book:

1. Create a hopeful, realistic big picture. As things change, it is important to be prepared to answer the questions of where your children will live and go to school with a reassuring attitude.

2. Change the outlook of the relationship with your ex. You are no longer husband and wife, but business partners in raising your children.

3. Stay connected to your children. Listening and being physically present help to ensure a close bond with your children.

A decade ago, two Minneapolis siblings wrote a ground breaking book entitled, “Divorce Is Not the End of the World.” It was one of the first guidebooks to coping with divorce written by kids, for kids.

The book’s message is as relevant today as it was in 1997. So coauthors Zoe and Evan Stern created an anniversary edition to include more insight. Ten years of life experience has allowed the siblings to add more depth to their previous viewpoints.

The revised version is due out this month.

Ahorns randomly selected 98 pairs of divorced parents in Wisconsin and conducted a five-year study. She then went back later on to learn how the children of these divorced parents fared and managed to interview 90% of them.

Approximately three-fourths of the 173 “children”, who ranged in their 30′s, thought their parents’ divorces were a good idea, and that they were all better off than if they had stayed together.

A former Wall Street Journal foregin correspondent, Pamela Druckerman, just published her book, Lust in Translation: The Rules of Infidelity from Tokyo to Tennessee. It hasn’t received great reviews, yet. She compares how different cultures define adultery and how they conceptualize infidelity.

Here’s some interesting data Druckerman found:
-Only 3.8 of married men and 2% of women in France admitted to having affairs
-In the U.S. 3.9 percent of men and 3.1 percent of women acklnowledged cheating
-6 percent of Americans in one survey said it was ok to cheat in some or all situations, nearly 40 percent of Russians polled saw no problem with it.

Are some truths really better left unspoken? Yes, according to Drukerman. It’s a French idea she sympathizes with.

Is it harder for twenty and thirty somethings than it was for their parents when they were the same age? Some say the single status is now becoming an epidemic.
