Loveless Marriages

Are people choosing to stay in loveless marriages instead of divorcing? Perhaps staying together is easier than breaking up. There are a lot of long term negative effects to staying with a spouse you no longer love. How do you adequately weigh the costs vs. the benefits of staying together in a loveless marriage vs. divorcing?
